A small glimpse of me.

Hi, I’m Rylee and I’m writing my first book (A huge smile came across my face when I wrote that). It’s taken me a long time to be able to say that. I’m sure it has for all of us, but we’re here now and that’s all that matters.

I wanted to take a second and tell you about me before I go and explain everything that got me to where I am with the book. It’s a lot, so be ready.

My love for writing first came from my love of reading, now trust me when I saw it wasn’t always like that. If I’m being honest I had a hard time learning to read when I was younger, so it actually drove me away from it. I spent a lot of time hating it.

It wasn’t until middle school that I actually started to love reading. I was really into mystery/horror books (I could never read a horror book now it would scare me too much). I found it so fascinating. I loved the thrill of it. My real love for reading came when I found fantasy books. To this day they are my favorite. It’s the reason I’m writing one now.

My family has a running joke that when I’m reading I have my head in the clouds and their right. My head is in the clouds playing the scenes that I’m reading in my head and seeing them come to life. I remember one time I went to go get a drink and I turned the t.v on because I thought I was watching a show instead of reading.

The point is reading is what brought writing into my life. It showed me a piece of myself that I need. I have to write, even if it’s not for my book. It helps me get my emotions out and to understand what I’m feeling. I love writing poetry and would like to share it with you too.

Can I tell you a secret…No one really knows I’m writing a book. It’s a dream of mine that feels too close to my heart to share with many people. It’s something I’ve wanted to do for a while and knew that when I was on my death bed I would regret not doing it. It’s also a big dream that can feel impossible for other people and I don’t want their doubt to creep onto me.

Some random facts about me. I love the moon and I actually included it into my book. I have a golden retriever and she is the love of my life. I have a hard time reading books when I’m actively working on my book, so I’m taking a small break from reading until I query. Crew Necks are my favorite, I will wear them in the summer. Summer is also my favorite season.

Long story short here is a small glimpse into who I am. I hope to be able to share more along the way as I share my process with writing a book and trying to get it published. Come along for the ride. I will be posting every week, so let me know what you want to know about writing or anything.
